I got sober on December 1, 2024. I still dance with my mom, go on dates, and take birthdays pretty seriously. These days I bring the NA beer.

Here’s a reply you can borrow. “I’d love to meet you. I don’t drink, but I’m very into coffee and a walk by the water. Sunday?” Sometimes the only part I want to negotiate is where we’re getting the coffee.

My kind of happy hour in New York? A ticket to MJ on Broadway. If you’re on your own in a new city, pick one thing you’d look forward to doing when you get out of uniform.
03I still want the birthday toast
For my 39th, I’m dreaming of a hike in Honolulu and a bottle of NA bubbly. I like the pop, I like making a wish, and yes, I want the photo.
